Anti-Thyroglobulin Antibody (Anti-Tg)
What It Is
Anti-Tg antibodies target thyroglobulin, a protein involved in thyroid hormone production.
Why It Matters
The presence of these antibodies may indicate autoimmune thyroid conditions such as Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
If Levels Are High
Elevated levels are associated with autoimmune thyroid disease, including Hashimoto's or Graves' disease.
If Levels Are Low
Low or absent levels are normal and suggest no autoimmune thyroid activity.
Preparation
No special preparation required.
How Often to Test
As clinically indicated, typically if thyroid dysfunction is suspected.
