What It Is
Lymphocytes are white blood cells central to the adaptive immune response, including T cells and B cells.
Why It Matters
Lymphocyte counts help assess immune function and can be altered by infections, immune disorders, and medications.
If Levels Are High
Elevated lymphocytes may indicate viral infection, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, or other immune conditions.
If Levels Are Low
Low lymphocytes may indicate HIV infection, autoimmune disease, or immunosuppressive therapy.
