Why It Matters
A positive nitrite test is a reliable indicator of a bacterial urinary tract infection.
If Levels Are High
Positive nitrites strongly suggest a urinary tract infection caused by nitrate-reducing bacteria.
If Levels Are Low
Negative nitrites do not fully exclude infection, as not all bacteria produce nitrites.
Preparation
