Oxygen Saturation
What It Is
Oxygen saturation measures the percentage of haemoglobin in the blood that is carrying oxygen.
Why It Matters
Low oxygen saturation can indicate respiratory or circulatory problems requiring medical attention.
If Levels Are High
100% saturation is normal; readings above 95% are generally considered healthy.
If Levels Are Low
Saturation below 95% may indicate respiratory compromise and warrants further investigation.
Preparation
Remove nail varnish from the test finger. Rest quietly before measurement.
How Often to Test
At each health check or as clinically indicated.
