Total Antioxidant Status (TAS)
What It Is
TAS measures the overall antioxidant capacity of the blood, reflecting dietary and supplemental antioxidant intake.
Why It Matters
Low antioxidant status may indicate increased oxidative stress, which is linked to ageing and chronic disease.
If Levels Are High
High TAS generally reflects good antioxidant intake and is considered favourable.
If Levels Are Low
Low TAS may indicate poor dietary antioxidant intake or increased oxidative stress.
Preparation
No special preparation required.
How Often to Test
As part of a comprehensive health assessment.
